Chris Isaak is the ultimate cross-over success story. His contemporary take on rockabilly and 50's and 60's rock'n'roll combined with his pin-up good looks have made him a star not only on the charts but on the big screen as well. Immediately after finishing college, Isaak formed rockabilly outfit Silvertone, who would later serve as his permanent backing band. Their 1985 debut self-titled release, was critically well received, though did not sell well. Follow up album Chris Isaak, released in 1987 suffered the same fate. At this time the singer began his acting career with a small part in Married to the Mob. His break in the music industry came when the single Wicked Game, off 1989's Heart Shaped World, was used in the David Lynch film Wild at Heart. The single went top ten and the album sold over a million copies. Though 1993's San Franciso Days and 1995's Forever Blue didn't break any new ground musically, both delivered a handful of hits and went gold. In 1996 he released The Baja Sessions, followed by Speak of the Devil two years later. The late 90s and early 00s saw Isaak concentrating on his busy touring schedule and his acting career, which scored him his own television show, as well as parts in The Silence of the Lambs, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me and A Dirty Shame. He returned to the studio for Always Got Tonight (2002) and the seasonal Chris Isaak Christmas (2004). Isaak released his first greatest hits album, Best of Chris Isaak, in 2006.
