Bumblebeez
Hailing from the small town of Braidwood in New South Wales, brother-sister duo Bumblebeez produce a trademark cut-and-paste mash of hip hop, rock, electro and just about anything in between. Although the group has had various members in its ranks at different times, Chris and Pia Colonna have remained the two core members, producing the majority of the music.
Undoubtedly the heart of the buzzing beast, Chris Colonna splices grimey vocals with crunked-out beats, at times injecting rock and all kinds of noise into his tunes. Combining laptop wizardry with the vocal talents of little sister Pia - aka Queen ViLa - as well as Chris's own MC skills, Bumblebeez have hit upon a formula for success.
After being Unearthed by Triple J in 2002, the 'beez released the EP White Printz in early 2003, followed by Red Printz in December 2003 on the influential Modular Records label. The two EPs were later combined for a worldwide release on Geffen in 2004; the song 'Pony Ride' garnered the duo Stateside success. Following extensive touring and another EP in 2006, the duo spent time away from the public eye honing their sound for their debut long player, Prince Umberto & The Sister of Ill , released in September 2007.
