Rumours follow Bob Log III around like a motivated stalker. In one, it was claimed that he lost his left hand in a boating accident which was replaced with a monkey's paw, which in turn was the reason behind his unique guitar style. Speculation arose that he was a member of the Strokes or even Tom Waits. What is known is that Bob Log III hails from Arizona. He first played guitar at age 11 after hearing an AC/DC song. His first musical venture was as part of the duo Doo Rag, whilst on tour supporting Ween, the percussionist of the group left and Bob remained to complete the remaining dates as a solo act. His now famous helmet was employed as protection from things thrown from the crowd, and along with lairy jumpsuits, feature as part of his live show. Bob supplanted the need for a drummer by concocting a bass drum and kick cymbal contraption he operates with his feet. His helmet was modified; a 1970s telephone receiver was wired up to a microphone and attached, giving unique vocal distortions. Bob's grounding in the gritty delta blues permeates the sound with his manic slide guitar distorted through two pickups and two amps. Bob's music found a home at respected blues label Fat Possum. His debut album School Bus was released in 1998, with follow up Trike a year later. His 2003 album Log Bomb, featuring the single Boob Scotch has seen him yet again embark on a global tour, with Australia and Japan well stamped in his passport.
